Swing Dance Moves
Now days, there are ample amounts of video footage on Youtube highlighting many renditions of classic lindy hop moves.
When I first started, the search for new moves was a complicated ordeal for a person who didn’t know the names of the lindy hop moves. Plus the names of certain swing moves varied based upon each communities story behind the move.
Our lindy hop technique has demystified the learning process so even children can understand, apply and grow as dancers.
All of the original lindy hop moves I’ve created have been based on a dance philosophy focused more on principles rather and rules. Check out related content and swing resources below.
Swing Dance Moves | Fall off the log
This lindy hop sequence was inspired by the “fall off the log” classic move. We wanted to add the movement in an unexpected place and hand hold.
Swing Dance Moves | The Bottle Cap
This swing dance move is called the “Bottle Cap.” It is a swift short cut back to closed position. If you are a follower and struggling you should check out our 4 part series designed to increase your lindy hop follower technique.
Lindy Hop | Lullaby Swing Out | Youtube swing dance
Swing Out’s can be executed on a variety of tempo choices. I prefer the mid-temp swing rhythms when adding syncopations and extreme styling. This variation is called “Lullaby Swing out.”
Lindy Hop | Sweep the Leg | Youtube swing dance
The sweep the leg move is an original swing move I created in Dresden Germany in 2016. It was designed to replace a simple rock-step when in close position.
Lindy Hop | Blanka Roll | by Jamin Jackson
The “Blanka Roll” is inspired by the character from Street Fighter 2 called Blanka. I wanted to mix the classical lyrical roll with lindy hop.
